While we have been waiting for the 4th season of Osman to drop—it does so this month—we finished the one and only season of Bozkir Aslani Celaleddin. It was a straight one shot series done for the Pakistani’s in particular and of course directed by Bozdag.
The series was decent, but nowhere near the mastery of Ertugrul. It highlights the last person of some royal descent Celaleddin (he was the bastard son of a concubine fathered by Ala ad-Din—Alladin—to battle against the Great Khan—Genghis. Alladin was the ruler of the Khwarazm kingdom (near the Aral Sea). To make a long story short, Celaleddin faced a dynastic struggle with his younger half-brother, but it was Genghis Khan who dealt the death blow to his reign at the Battle of Indus. An Impressed Khan allowed him to live, but slaughtered his army. Genghis was all madz that Celaleddin accomplished a rare feat and defeated Genghis earlier at the battle of Parawan
All academics should work with their own hands and do something productive. To not do that leaves you at the mercy of your benefactors. If you do not have some skill outside your own mind, then you are not fulfilling your duty to God, and yourself. You make yourself more important than you really are.
None of the history above is really explored in the series, except for the dynastic rivalry. Some say that there is supposed to be a 2nd season, but at over a year since the 1st season, this development seems unlikely.
Now on to the reason for this post. In a particularly excellent scene in the very last episode, there is an exchange with a poet—I rename him an academic. He’s offended that his “expert” poem written for the Sultan was not received well by the royal family. He believes that their inability to recognize his genius is an injustice. Here is the enlightening exchange:
