I thought Leland provided the most thoughtful responses to the questionaire as well. I have a few concerns about him but he is head and shoulders above the council we have now. Even with my doubts I unequivocally support his candidacy. I would encourage people to go to his site and drop a donation to his campaign. We are in a much better position with Leland and Frank running than we were 90 days ago. I would like to see both these guys spank McHugh by double or triple the vote tally in order to convince the other three their time is up. A few resignations from the others would accelerate our process of taking back control of our town.
You praise the length of his responses, but the questionnaire asked respondents to limit their answers to 150-200 words. Another perspective is that he doesn't follow directions.🤷♂️
You probably did not catch it, but I praised him not for his mere length but that he was specific and had an action plan, unlike every Democrat who responded. As far as following directions, that is a weak argument because a candidate should follow the dictates of any media or group seeking their opinion—it was an ask, not a LAW. There is a difference. Thanks for reading.
I saw the specificity. But the group, the BF Civic Association?, isn't a media group. And, for what its worth, it could have edited it to fit their needs. They didn't. And I didn't know that the other council candidates were Democrats, since we have non- partisan elections. So does that mean Hyer is a Republixan?
You further did not read my response closely, please see above where I say media and “group”. Your argument is weak. Your fantasy that there are not Democrats and Republicans running defies the reality on the ground when, the parties are supporting their party member even though the race is officially non-partisan. If you honestly think that, say, Democrat activists are not pumping up McHugh, for example, you are lying to the readers the very fact on the ground. You must not be from here to know the history (oh I see you are a registered Democrat from New Jersey. Now I get it). Thanks for trying, but your argument is not persuasive. Please learn how to spell Republican. Thanks.
I misspelled a word? Oh my God, please forgive me. And, no, I'm not originally from here but I understand the process. And since you feel I'm naive, I clearly don't deserve to read your inciteful words. Thanks fir sharing. And despite this not being a bus depot, im leaving.

Send McHugh back to being an out of work B movie actor.
Great summary and thanks for the link. We can hope there are enough people awake to vote him in.
I was surprised, but his answers are quite impressive. He has my vote.

Thanks for reading. You do not understand the process. North Carolina is not New Jersey.
