The younger generation is being forced out by Leland. No well paying jobs. The boomers want our young men and women to work retail and fast food. I don’t want this for my 3 kids. I came out of college with debt that took 30 yrs to get rid of and did not even have a job in the field of study. I did not want this for my kids so I decided to encourage my kids to learn life skills that would make them better people without the burden of debt. They will move out of the area. Universities are more concerned with their donors and the 18-30 are not able to find work. Leland several years back made it very public that they are a retired community has been catering to buyers with pension and jobs that are remote. They have no interest in having real manufacturing or industry jobs here. They have left this for neighboring counties. The old will get older and pass on while investors like Novant and developers take money from the people and town. The town will dry up without the younger generation to be there to bring back community.
