I belong to many DIY forums—mostly mechanic forums. I like to restore things. Invaluable info to be found at these forums, especially for those inclined to to things themselves. In part we have to do things ourselves because as I have noted in other places, we are losing knowledge to fix things. Many auto shops will not repair older cars because, they have no frickin’ clue how. Literally, this was said to me by a manager of a local shop. SAD!
I have been not only maintaining a diary of all my motorcycle and auto/truck restorations on a few boards, but I have been making videos for people on FB. In a recent post about a project I was working on in a truck forum, I made the comment that the truck you see above, just showed up to my local pick, and given the rarity of finding 1980s Ford trucks that one can scavenge parts from, I wrote on this forum that, “I was on it like Hunter Biden and a gram of coke.” For that joke, my post was removed as “political.”
The forum is one of the best for the knowledge and camaraderie imparted to the members. I have benefitted immensely from it. But the owner of the site, has no idea what time it is, much less understand that, in a few short years, the disdain for political organization is going to make his site obsolete. But mine was a joke albeit political in nature, and it touched a nerve, not because anyone disagreed (as far as I know), but because, well, politics is out of bounds apparently, even jokingly. Are we really that afraid boomers?
you might not care about politics, but it will certainly care about you
Jokes are a part of the human condition—it helps us to cope. It brings levity to the seriousness of life. But the more important note that the owner of this site does not get is—you might not care about politics, but it will certainly care about you. What will he do as the political ruling class bans restorations—by banning the combustion engine, making it illgeal to own one? We are headed that way.
Hell in the 90s there was a concerted effort to trash all old cars—this is no joke. Will write more about this at a later date. The reason restorationists have a hard time finding older cars is because of a federal policy to get rid of them and pay cash to crush them into unusable scrap in the 90s. It was the first overt effort to rid us of the combustion engine and make us dependent on the latest plastic thing.
This is by design. They want us all dependent on public transportation of, if you can afford it, toxic EV.
I received an email saying my post was quarantined. I was asked to remove the line. I assented to its removal, but it bothers me. The bell tolls for men who can know how to do things—and the ruling class wants to make sure we do not know how to do things ourselves. They HATE a self sufficient people. What bothers me is normies like the owner of the thread either do not see it, or are too afraid to at least cultivate a community that resists making men subservient to the latest thing.
There are some who get what is happening, and they are mostly all Harley owners—Demon’s Row, Sosse the Ghost, and also VetBiker—have become awake to what is happening—the ruling class wants to ban Harley gas engines and make the riders submit to the new way of doing things. Sosse and Vet are not having it.
Men who work on their own things are ripe for having sentiments of liberty—Homesteaders/preppers/off grid, etc.,—are similar. They, as much as they can, depend on themselves for repairing and maintaining their household. It makes them less slaves, and more masters of their own domain.
By the time the owner of the truck forum understands this, his precious site will be a relic, and he will wonder how the hell it happened to all the real meaningful interaction of men, working on vehicles, brought to life, and manhood. He will wonder why he is not happy anymore and cannot attend church, or speak freely anywhere, at any time.
It happened by increments by your own self censorship, beginning with when you were too afraid to enjoy a joke.

Good article. I agree. Many young people would do well to ditch college/university/propaganda camps- and learn a trade. No loans to pay back and one day own your business.
Regarding the buy back of cars- I remember Barry Soetero’s Cash for Clunkers program. In the name of the cult of “climate change” they pulled thousands of older model cars off the streets for the lemons we use now.
