I announced a while back, they we are leaving North Carolina. Some people are quite critical of this move. Why? Because they think that Homesteading is a LARP—that is a pie in the sky trend that is frought with hardships, not rosy romantic landscapes. The problem with that opinion is that those people are only trying to excuse their own laziness. So, I usually reply, “no shit sherlock?” What does it matter to you anyway?
There are a myriad of reasons to leave your state, and buy property, and homestead. Some people do act on this without thinking it through. Those are the ones confronted by the harsh realities of the hard work required to make such a move successful. It really is a lifestyle change of great proportions.
Some people decide to Homestead because of fear: shit is going to hit the fan, you must prep. I understand all that for the most part. Remember that COVID bullshit? Remember bare store shelves? Remember the fake fear the ruling class generated? Homesteaders did not have to worry so much about shut downs and all the deprivation our own ruling class forced upon us without our consent. Liberty includes food liberty, and if you are growing your own food (with heritage seeds, or with your grass fed meat), then, frankly, you can circumvent govt tyranny over you.
Fear can be an initial motivator, but it is not a sustainable motivator.
Some people do it because they are wanting something else, and are doing it because of a purpose. That is where we fall as a prime motivator.
What purpose?
People cannot remain motivated by fear. This is partly what killed the left in the last election—you cannot muster a voting base based on fear for long. After a while, it peters out. Democrats have learned this the hard way.
