"If we had principled representatives who respect their own voters" you hit the nail on the head. It's too bad we have to attempt to legislate every single detail of life because we live in a world where 'principled representatives' is a contradiction of terms. Side question: In NC what % of bills actually make it out of committee? Any idea?
MOST of the bills that are referred to committee never make it out for a floor vote. This is the case of most all history in any state at any time. I will add, that, the last session had a LOT of budgetary bills to get through and this consumed their time. THAT is the reason the recall bill was stuck in committee….in fact there was not ONE bill that came out of that committee that session because the budget concerns were paramount. The NCGA had to correct all the fuckups from the Democrat governor before their supermajority ended is why the budget concerns were pressing.
So odds are high the recall bill was just messaging and nothing will come of it. Color me naive, I was much more optimistic than was warranted. Back to focusing on finding two candidates to run against these scoundrels this cycle. I think you were right in saying we need to look beyond the retirement gulags for candidates.
